Performing preventative medicine as well as diagnosing emergent internal health issues requires the ability to perform a wide range of laboratory tests on blood, urine, feces, and biopsied tissue. Without timely access to precise laboratory test results--blood testing, biopsies, microscopic examinations, bacterial culture sensitivity, and more--it is difficult to make an accurate diagnosis or assessment of your pet's health.
At Sangaree Animal Hospital we have a complete in-house laboratory that allows us to perform basic laboratory procedures rapidly such as: urinalysis, parasite identification, fungal cultures, complete blood counts (CBC) and blood chemistry testing. We also maintain a collaborative relationship with a regional laboratory to provide more complicated testing and comprehensive analysis of our lab results such as hormonal, specific enzymes and tissue analysis.
Sangaree Animal Hospital uses the latest in digital radiographic technology which allows the doctor to view the radiograph with enhanced detail. Radiographs (X-rays) are extremely helpful for diagnosing and monitoring many medical and surgical conditions. X-rays are useful in examining your pets skeletal system, oral cavity, GI tract, urinary tract, respiratory and cardiovascular systems.
Because our radiographs are digital, we are able to easily transfer images to VDIC Imaging Center, a veterinary radiology specialty group, in the event we need a second opinion from a board-certified veterinary radiologist. The radiographs can be sent to VDIC and results are received in just a few hours, or minutes in emergency cases. If you would like to view the radiographs at home, or your pet is needing a referral to a local specialist, we may save the images to a CD during your appointment time.
